| Hi,
and welcome back. The Magic Mirror Network brings you The Princess Rescue Dungeon Delve Open. Let’s go straight down to the 2nd level, where Steele’s team is entering a dark and forbidding passageway. Lynch? |
Thanks, Elle, we’re
somewhere in the northwestern section of the 2nd level. Samurai
Steele’s party has vanquished a random encounter with a troll, and
are continuing in the search for a way down to the level the hostages
are being held. |
| How’s
the party holding up, Cyndi? |
Well, Elle, they
had a tough go of it on the first level, as the monsters were at
their grouchiest first thing in the morning. But they haven’t lost
anyone and are – wait, I think something’s happening. |
| Steele
probes at the floor with his sword. He seems to have found either
a trapdoor or a trap. He’s probing it, talking it over with his
team…I think he’s going to…yes, he’s going to spring it. |
Lynch,
when you used to delve, did the party leader spring possible traps?
| Elle, you know
that depends on the actual skills and levels of the party members.
He doesn’t have a real thief in his arsenal, so he has to choose the
player most likely to survive a trap. |
And
since Jade lost one of her lungs in that tussle with the Swamp Beast,
he seems to think it’s him. Now, he carefully, carefully – |
| Oh! That’s
torn it. It’s a gaseous trap. |
What’s he going
to do now, Lynch? |
| I’m
guessing he’s going to go with a save versus poisons, Elle. It’s the
choice he’s made in the last 17 encounters with toxic gas. |
Yes, there it is,
he's rolling, ….Oh. He’s fumbled it. |
| He can’t
be very pleased with that roll. |
No, you can see
how displeased he is, as the whole party sinks down. |
| What’s
going to happen to them now, Lynch? |
Well, that depends
on what, exactly, the gas was, and whether they can recover before
something comes by to munch their faces off. |
| And we’ll be checking back in on them later.
Meanwhile, The Ethiopians have come across an interesting find.
Let’s go to Charles! |
Thank you, Elle, and it’s really exciting. The witch
doctor has divined that there’s a powerful artifact in a certain room
here on Level 3. Let’s watch. |
| You see, they're
entering, preparing to examine the |
GET....OUUUUUT!!!! |
| It’s cool. |
Charles, are they leaving? |
| I’ll try to find out. Excuse me, sir? What are you doing? |
When a disembodied voice tells us to get out, we figure
it’s in a position to know. |
| Aren’t you the least bit curious what that thing does? |
“Least” would be the operative word. |
| Well, there you have it, Elle, they’re leaving the
powerful artifact, and the curse it may carry, for the next adventurer. |
Charles, I think the crowd would be very interested if
you were to find out exactly what the artifact- |
| Elle, I just report adventurers doing stupid things,
it’s not my job to DO stupid things. |
Alrighty, then. Let’s see how Prince Charming is doing
with the locked door. |
| I, Prince Charming of Greater Treadmill, do Command
this door be Opened! |
You’re not helping, you know. |
| Wizard, we are on a mission from G- |
Stop going all montheistic on me while I’m invoking assistance
from the outer darkness. |
| As you can see, there’s been a certain amount of
friction in this group. |
Penny, is it normal for people in a single party to worship
different deities? |
| Oh, sure. Different patrons for different interests
is the rule. If everyone in the party worshipped a god of Fire, for
example, then they’d have less protection from a flooding casualty,
you see. |
So, what’s the problem here? |
| Well, Charming kinda sees himself as God’s Gift to
Distressed Damsels, and isn’t as respectful of other people’s abilities
or patrons as a party leader might be. |
Is that causing a problem in party unity? |
| Well, a follower of a more enlightened religion might
have noticed they let him fight the cave-bear all alone, but unfortunately
for them, he won. |
Which went further to convince him that he’s in The Right? Any predictions for this party? |
| I’m really not expecting them to get off the First
Level for a while, Elle. We’ve seen two parties play through their
position. |
Speaking of other parties, how’s Steele’s doing? |
| Not much of a change yet, Elle. |
Okay, then. Now we switch to Zeena’s party, which is
out in the lead at the moment. |
| They certainly are, Elle. They have a well balanced
and experienced force, which is easily reflected in the speed at
which they advance. |
They’re just now dropping down to sixth level. They’re
conferring, I assume on which direction they should begin traveling. |
| Cliff,
do we know what’s on that level? |
We
do, Elle, but the adventurers can hardly suspect. Ah, they’ve chosen
a direction. |
| And they’re
off, with Zeena in the lead, followed by her party. |
Is it
unusual for a party to be all women? |
It’s very unusual for any women at all to be in a dungeon, except as the object of the adventure, either for rescue or as the reward. If it weren’t for the fact they’re out in first place, you’d have to wonder what their players were thinking about. |
| But they ARE in first
place, aren’t they, Cliff? |
Yeah,
go figure. |
